Mike McCurlie is a Hamilton, Ontario musician, storyteller, and voice artist with a career spanning decades of original songwriting, live performance, and community engagement. His music is rooted in both the working-class spirit of the Steel City and the natural soul of living in the woods of Ancaster — honest, warm, and full of character.
Known for his wit, warmth, and ability to connect with an audience, Mike has become one of the area's most beloved cultural voices. His original songs — from the rollicking "Diesel Buggy Boogie" to the reflective "Oh To Be Sailing Away" — celebrate the area he calls home with humour and heart.
As the host of Hamilton Originals at The Westdale Theatre, Mike brought Hamilton's most celebrated musicians into intimate conversations, interviewing legends like his former 'duo' partner Daniel Lanois, Rik Emmett of Triumph, Red Green (Steve Smith), Ronnie Hawkins, Tom Wilson, HPO Conductor Boris Brott, and many more.

You Can't Toboggan in The Hammer Anymore
One of Mike's beloved Hamilton songs co-written with Laura Cole — a humorous and heartfelt ode to another dumb idea borne out of politics. Luckily, this song changed the law and tobogganing is once again legal in The Hammer!
